Love and Marriage

So there are a lot of people who look at marriage as something that they never want to do. And when you ask them why, they give a ton of excuses. But they are just that. EXCUSES. They are not real and valid reasons, they are something that you have convinced yourself and don’t want to let go of it! I have been married for just under 9 wonderful years. I have 3 beautiful babies and a wonderful and loving husband. I would not change my life. Not one bit.

Love. According to, love means a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person. a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection, as for a parent, child, or friend. sexual passion or desire.

Love to me (in the context of marriage) is God. It’s wanting the best for a person. Wanting to be there when everything is good and even more when everything is bad. Love is wanting to be the best that you can be for that person. Love is understanding that no one is perfect and that everyone has faults, understanding that those faults are what make the person who they are. But also knowing that you have faults too. Love is understanding that everything takes work and effort and wanting to make it work with that person through everything that you go through.

Marriage takes work.  It’s not just going to stay the same as it once was.  It should evolve into something new everyday.  There is something to be said about a marriage that is full of love.  There is also something to be said about a marriage lacking love.  One thing they have in common is that they both require work.  Keeping a marriage is not easy, especially after a long time.  You get complacent with the way things are.  You get used to things being one way and when change comes, you may not adapt right away.  It takes time and effort to keep things spiced up.

I went to Word of Faith a little while ago and heard about the things to keep your marriage together (both inside and outside of the bedroom).  I realized that there are some things that I have to work on STILL and some that I do on a regular basis.  There are things that he can do as well.  We are a work in progress.  But as long as we make progress, we will be alright.
