Love and Marriage

So there are a lot of people who look at marriage as something that they never want to do. And when you ask them why, they give a ton of excuses. But they are just that. EXCUSES. They are not real and valid reasons, they are something that you have convinced yourself and don’t want to let go of it! I have been married for just under 9 wonderful years. I have 3 beautiful babies and a wonderful and loving husband. I would not change my life. Not one bit.

Love. According to, love means a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person. a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection, as for a parent, child, or friend. sexual passion or desire.

Love to me (in the context of marriage) is God. It’s wanting the best for a person. Wanting to be there when everything is good and even more when everything is bad. Love is wanting to be the best that you can be for that person. Love is understanding that no one is perfect and that everyone has faults, understanding that those faults are what make the person who they are. But also knowing that you have faults too. Love is understanding that everything takes work and effort and wanting to make it work with that person through everything that you go through.

Marriage takes work.  It’s not just going to stay the same as it once was.  It should evolve into something new everyday.  There is something to be said about a marriage that is full of love.  There is also something to be said about a marriage lacking love.  One thing they have in common is that they both require work.  Keeping a marriage is not easy, especially after a long time.  You get complacent with the way things are.  You get used to things being one way and when change comes, you may not adapt right away.  It takes time and effort to keep things spiced up.

I went to Word of Faith a little while ago and heard about the things to keep your marriage together (both inside and outside of the bedroom).  I realized that there are some things that I have to work on STILL and some that I do on a regular basis.  There are things that he can do as well.  We are a work in progress.  But as long as we make progress, we will be alright.

I love my husband!

I sang in a wedding this past weekend and it made me think about my wedding day.  November 23, 2003 was one of the best days of my life.  That day I married my best friend.  He gets/knows/understands me.  I am pretty sure that I get him too. (lol).  Anyhow…anyone who was there remembers that it was such a beautiful day.  I believe it was in the 60’s that day and I know it was a clear sky all day!  The next day, when we woke up, there was snow on the ground.  I thank God for such a blessed day!  We had our family and friends there and those same family and friends have been there when we need to talk.  We have grown so much together!  It’s amazing!

I understand that some of you see the outer appearance and think that EVERY aspect of our lives is 100% okay.  But I will tell you that’s not true.  There are many things that I can do different, as well as he can do different.  But God has blessed us, our relationship, and our family.  We put our lives into His hands and He has kept us.  We love each other and I know I keep falling in love over and over again.  It’s amazing to think that some of our friends look at us and see inspiration (we have been told that before).  I guess with the divorce rate being really high, especially for those who marry younger than 25, almost 9 years is a long time.  He was 22 and I was 21 when we got married.

Now as in all marriages, there are days where I think….ooohhhh he gets on my nerves.  Usually those are the days where I think the garbage should have been taken out and it wasn’t, or a cup/plate/bowl is left out for me to have to put up.  I know that ther are times when I get on his nerves.  We are your normal couple with our ups and our downs, but we have learned that we have to work things out.  It’s not always going to be easy to talk about things, but being honest and being open  makes things so much easier.  If we know what is going on with each other, then we can figure it out together.  Back to the title of my blog post…

I have a God-fearing, God-loving, caring, humble, man who loves me and who loves our children.  He prays and he talks to God. He asks Him for help and nows and understands that he is not in this world alone.  My husband makes me happy, makes me smile, makes me laugh.  He has never hit me or cheated on me.  He has never put me down and has never told me that I couldn’t do something.  It’s just about always positive words, and when they are not, they are said out of love.  He talks with me and he listens (truly listens) and gives his honest opinion when I ask.  I know how blessed I am because I have seen people have worse.  I thank God for my husband.

I love my husband!

Soon to be open!!!!!!!!!!!

So I have come up with a name for my new business!  DELICIOUSNESS AND MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!  It’s awesome!  I’m happy.  It accounts for my baskets and other creations in addition to ALL of my baking and cooking creations.  I will be coming up with a logo, website and other stuff soon! I will be posting to fb as i come up with different things.  I will probably have my blog attached to it as well so that i can update everyone on my progress!  Thanks for the looks and once I get everything going, please support!  God bless!

SO I am in a marriage and family class at occ and this is one of the topics that we are discussing: marriage and changing trends in the US since the 60’s and 70’s.  So it inspired this:

So many people look at marriage and say, “You know, that’s not really for me”

It’s because you’re conformed to the mindset of serial monogamy

You move from partner to partner, like there’s no consequence

Then when you end up hurt, there’s supposed to be no coincidence

A piece of you left here, a piece of you left there

So much for really loving yourself and treating your life with care

Intimacy is a simple human want and need

But before getting intimate, I think you should take heed

To the fact that you are giving your most prized assett

And then you are surprised by the quality of the person you get

That man or woman that you go home to every night,

They may not like you and the person you are,

Just the image in their sight.
